In September, Governor Hogan announced $3.8 million in FY 2021 MDOT Kim Lamphier Bikeways Network Program awards to improve bicycle access across the State. In preparation for the FY 2022 grant cycle, potential applicants are encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent for your Bikeways projects. Letters of Intent briefly describe project aspects and help MDOT better understand and prepare applicants for a successful application.

 

MDOT is accepting letters of intent through Friday, April 2, 2021.

MDOT will host an online grant workshop in Winter 2021 for all grant programs including Transportation Alternatives, Recreational Trails, Highway Safety Office, Strategic Transit Innovation and Bikeways. Stay tuned for more details. 

MDOT SHA announced more than $13 million in Transportation Alternatives and Recreational Trails Program grants to 26 projects across the State. These projects will improve safety and access for people walking and biking, including Phase II of the South Shore Trail and C&O Towpath Rehabilitation.

With the State of Maryland continuing to operate under an Elevated Level II status due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public outreach on Bikeways projects has become more challenging. The interactive Bikeways project map now has links to project-specific sites to help the public learn more about these projects. Notable projects links include the Byron Bridge Bicycle Access Study connecting Harpers Ferry to the C&O Canal Towpath and the Northwest Salisbury Bikeway project.
