The Purple Line Small Business Grants
Program
MDOT is accepting grant applications from small
businesses impacted by construction along the Purple Line alignment in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. The Purple Line Small Business Grants
Program will support business operations during construction closures or detours, as well as provide marketing support for businesses along the alignment during construction of the light rail project. The four-year program will invest $4 million in
eligible businesses along the Purple Line corridor. Grant award amounts of up to
$50,000 will vary based on location of the business, construction impacts and whether the business is in areas designated for community and economic development, revitalization and sustainability. Up to three application rounds will take place each year. The first round of applications is due by March 14, 2025. Program details and the grant application can be found here. |
MDOT Launches Grant Program to Support
TOD, Spur Economic Growth
On February 5, MDOT announced a new grant program to advance development projects near transit stations that will spur economic activity and increase connectivity in communities across Maryland. The first round of funding of
the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Capital Grant and Revolving Loan Fund includes $5 million to support local jurisdictions seeking to build equitable and inclusive development near transit hubs. This is the latest tool in the State’s efforts to create vibrant communities around transit, grow transit ridership and expand housing opportunities. The TOD Fund was established by the Equitable Inclusive TOD Enhancement Act signed into law by Governor Wes Moore in 2023 and is in line with the Moore-Miller Administration’s vision for more transit-oriented development statewide. Transit-oriented development is widely known as a highly effective approach to help increase transit ridership, support economic development, maximize the efficient use of
transportation infrastructure and increase affordable and accessible housing opportunities. An outcome from transit-oriented development includes lower greenhouse gas emissions on a per capita basis. The Department will host two webinars for interested applicants on February
14 and March 4. Applications are due by April 8. Program details and the grant application can be found here.

MDOT has announced the Maryland Electric

The ‘List of Partners’ gathered through the form will be updated regularly so that interested organizations can reach out directly to those identified on the list about teaming
opportunities. For those interested in partnering with a site host, MDOT recommends utilizing the EV Charger Siting Tool to
determine if sites may be a good candidate.
