Bus and Low- or No- Emission Grant Program - July 9, 2024 The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded $960,000 to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), on behalf of Howard County and $25,475,520 to Prince George’s
County (pictured above). The funding in Howard County will buy new buses to provide better connections to regional transit services, including the Maryland Transit Administration's (MTA) Local Link service with easier access to Baltimore. The funding in Prince George’s County will be used to buy battery-electric buses, bringing the county closer to transitioning its bus fleet to fully zero-emission by 2040. The buses will enhance service to those who rely on public transportation to connect to jobs in the county and throughout the Washington, D.C. region.
