Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) - June 26, 2024 On June 26, 2024, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced $1.8
billion in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) awards. The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) received two awards. The Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) was awarded $800,000 to advance a mobility study at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, which will assess the feasibility of creating a consolidated multimodal ground transportation center, as well as an automated people mover. The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) was awarded $4,690,700 to
fund a preliminary design and environmental study, which will advance the Reisterstown Plaza Metro Station Transit Oriented Development project. The study will advance multimodal access, connectivity and safety projects around the station to encourage economic development and stronger transit ridership. MDOT would also like to congratulate the
City of Aberdeen and Baltimore City on their awards. Baltimore City received a $15,500,000 award to complete planning, preliminary engineering, permitting, community engagement, and environmental analysis to improve the Hanover Street corridor, including planning to enhance the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge. The City of Aberdeen received a $800,000 planning award to support the second phase of pre-construction planning and design activities to make improvements to the Aberdeen

actionable strategy by engaging with community members. If you have a recently awarded project that you would like to highlight in the next newsletter, reach out to us! |
Recently Submitted Grants Under the Low-Carbon
Transportation Materials (LCTM), the State Highway Administration (SHA) submitted the Material Progress: Advancing Maryland's Carbon Reduction Strategy Through Low-Carbon Transportation Materials Project, which if funded will enable SHA to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon materials and products with lower embodied GHG emissions on federal-aid eligible construction projects in Maryland. Under the Transportation Access Pilot Program (APP), MDOT submitted a Letter of Interest to collaborate with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and other participating organizations through case studies, peer exchanges and ongoing departmental data efforts, including: geospatial bike data, pedestrian data and accessibility data. The results of the pilot program will be published for the benefit of all and will inform potential
national transportation accessibility datasets, measures and analysis procedures. For more information on the projects submitted by MDOT, visit our webpage for more information. New Grant Resources We would like to highlight the USDOT

MDOT has a new department-wide Complete Streets Policy, which will make roads safer for all users by requiring additions of safety features such as bike lanes and pedestrian crossings, thereby prioritizing accessible and sustainable travel across all
modes. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) just released the Transit Resilience Guidebook, a resource to help transit agencies, local government officials, metropolitan planning organizations and other entities anticipate, adapt to and recover from service disruptions caused by extreme weather events, natural disasters and climate change impacts. USDOT recently released a new fact sheet showcasing how BIL-funded projects are repairing old bridges; making roadways safer; upgrading ports to be more efficient; modernizing airport terminals and expanding public transit and passenger rail services.
