The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), is one of the largest federal investments in infrastructure in nearly half a century. State and local governments will largely be responsible to prepare, design, and implement these projects. The bill not only increased funding for existing programs but also created entirely new programs to meet today’s needs.  

Maryland is set to receive over $2.2 billion for transportation to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports and airports. This newsletter highlights federal grant opportunities, other related opportunities, and grant-related resources, including upcoming events and webinars.

The U.S. DOT created the 2023 Discretionary Grant Preparation Checklist for Prospective Applicants to help local governments prepare for the year ahead and chart a strategic pathway to take advantage of historic infrastructure investments to build projects well.
